Kelli and Shane officially tied the knot last year during the pandemic with a small ceremony. However, they were finally ready to exchange personalized vows and celebrate with a big reception attended by all of their nearest and dearest. Sharing this moment with loved ones was the main focus of the event. They wanted to keep the theme simple and elegant with lots of greenery—nothing extravagant of overstated. They opted for a reception at Museum Lab in Pittsburgh. This philanthropic cutting-edge venue was absolutely perfect for their moody museum wedding!

Steel 10, Downtown Pittsburgh

Steel 10 is a recently renovated industrial wedding venue off of the 10^th Street Bridge. The Southside District venue hosts up to 100 guests for a small and intimate downtown reception. The design is thoughtfully laid out with great bar access and easy mingling space. Plus, the large open windows provide expansive views of the city.

DiSalvo’s Station

Looking for vintage vibes? This charming restored 1903 train station makes for an unforgettable experience and very unique photos. It’s fun to play up the train theme with pictures at the crossing signs, tracks, and vintage lamp posts. Plus, the gorgeous architecture of the station with high, arched windows provides an amazing backdrop for couple’s portraits. 

DiSalvo’s Station Restaurant is a local favorite, so you have authentic Italian cuisine by chef Gaetano DiSalvo himself (complemented with great wine pairings, of course)!

Rivers of Steel: Carrie Blast Furnaces and Pump House

The Rivers of Steel Carrie Blast Furnaces and Pump House wedding venue are about as industrial—and as Pittsburgh—as you can get. This national historic landmark has been beautifully transformed into a chic, modern venue space. In addition, it has tons of room—it hosts up to 1,500 guests and has 100+ parking spots!

Stage AE

Are you a go big or go home kinda couple (with plenty of flexibility in your timeline)? Stage AE will fit everyone you can think of—and then some. If you can book it, this larger than life reception venue has hosted some of the world’s most talented and iconic music artists. Do we even need to add a max guest count? It’s 2,400, by the way (or 5,500 outdoors). 😉

New Hazlett Theater

New Hazlett Theater is a mashup of sophisticated and industrial styles for something a little more traditional and polished. The main reception space features high exposed brick walls. However, it doesn’t seem out of place to host a formal dinner with banquet tables inside this spacious art-forward venue.

Riverfront Weddings

Light and airy meets industrial. Love the industrial look but not feeling moody? Try Riverfront Weddings. The painted white brick, light floors, and surrounding windows make this industrial space feel brighter and more spacious than most. Gotta love those riverfront views, too!

Engine House Twentyfive

Next on the list, visit the Clemente Museum, taste the EH25 wines, and plan your wedding at the 3-story 1897 historic landmark. All three floors of Engine House 25 feature historic industrial looks in unique ways.

Couples can choose from: The Wine Cellar, The Clemente Museum (complete with lots of authentic baseball memorabilia), or the spacious first floor, which resembles and enlarged baseball dugout with some of the original stadium seats and dugout benches—pretty cool!

Clear Story Creative Studio

I love this intimate, modern space with a fresh feel on the Soutside of Pittburgh. The Clear Story Creative Studio is perfect for a rehearsal dinner or small reception. This little gem of a space isn’t heavily marketed, so you’ll need to reach out to a Clear Story team member for more details.

HIP at the Flashlight Factory

Dark and moody boho vibes? Yes, please! HIP at the Flashlight Factory boasts itself as an “industrial glam venue space,” and I’d say they nailed it. And, how cool would it be to say you tied the knot at an old flashlight factory? The renovated Hipwell factory is indeed “hip,” and the versatile space can be transformed into just about any style you wish. Plus, the studio lighting is phenomenal!
