Experiencing the Best of Positano: Italy Elopements

Megan and Kane came across one of my blog posts featuring a dreamy destination wedding in Positano, Italy,  and fell in love. Instead of an elaborate wedding stateside, they decided an adventurous and intimate Positano, Italy elopement was calling their name. I helped them plan every detail from beginning to end, including their itinerary, shot list, and vendor coordination, so they didn’t have to worry about a thing. I wanted their experience to be everything they envisioned and then some. Their ceremony took place on a gorgeous October day with the Amalfi Coast sparkling in the background. We couldn’t have asked for better weather, and Casa Buonocore did a fabulous job with their intimate ceremony.

But tying the knot was just the beginning of their unforgettable elopement. Next, it was time to make memories and experience the best of Positano and the Amalfi Coast.  They were drawn to the charming narrow alleys and hidden corners between colorful houses in town. These two were down to explore, and she even wore custom bridal Converse sneakers, so they walked the stairs in Positano for some good shots. I plan on wearing custom bride Converse sneakers for this!

The goal was to have a lot of fun. Beforehand, Megan told me, “I can see us listening to music and drinking champagne while we get ready. We decided to elope to cut down on the stress of a big wedding, and for it to be an intimate day just shared by us, so I think our overall goal is to enjoy this time with each other.”

Positano, Italy Elopements: Must-See Experiences on the Amalfi Coast

As a place of unparalleled beauty, Positano, Italy, offers the perfect setting for an intimate elopement. Its steep, narrow streets, sun-kissed beaches, and vibrant bougainvillea make it a picturesque backdrop for your special day. But beyond its beauty, Positano is filled with unique experiences, rich history, and delicious cuisine, making it an ideal elopement destination.

Ideal Time to Elope to Positano, Italy

Let’s start with the best time to visit Positano. Spring (April to June) and fall (September to October) are the most favorable times, as the weather is pleasantly mild, and the usual summer tourist crowds are less intense. These seasons also offer the best lighting conditions for your elopement photos, with soft, diffused light making you and your partner look like you’ve stepped straight out of a fairy tale.

Where to Stay on the Amalfi Coast

Choosing the right place to stay is crucial for your elopement. Casa Buonocore, a boutique guest villa near the beach, is an excellent choice. This villa offers a luxurious, serene atmosphere with its stylish, breezy rooms, sunny terraces, and exceptional service. Plus, being in the heart of Positano, it is a perfect base for exploring the town.

Things to Do in Positano

Your elopement wouldn’t be complete without experiencing the best of Positano. Here are some activities and experiences that you shouldn’t miss.

Firstly, take a romantic boat tour with Luxury Boats Positano. This company offers private, customized tours, giving you an unforgettable experience of the Amalfi Coast’s beauty. Whether it’s a sunset trip or a visit to the mesmerizing Blue Grotto, these boat tours add a magical touch to your elopement adventure.

Next, explore Positano’s winding streets. Stroll through the labyrinth of narrow lanes, discover hidden corners, and fall in love with the town’s irresistible charm. Don’t miss the Church of Santa Maria Assunta, a historical gem with its stunning, vibrant majolica dome.

A heart-pumping hike along the Path of the Gods is a must for adventurous couples. This challenging trail offers breathtaking views of the Amalfi Coast and the surrounding mountains, a perfect backdrop for photos.

Where to Dine on the Amalfi Coast

Positano’s culinary scene is phenomenal–as you’d expect. Start your day with breakfast at Casa e Bottega, known for its fresh, organic, and delicious offerings (and cute shop!). For lunch, try La Cambusa, where you can savor traditional Italian dishes while enjoying a stunning sea view. As for dinner, La Sponda in Le Sirenuse Hotel is a romantic spot illuminated by 400 candles, offering some of the best Mediterranean cuisine.

No trip to Italy would be complete without trying their famous gelato. Head over to Buca di Bacco Bar for some mouthwatering gelato in town and enjoy it while lounging on the beach.

Round off your days in Positano with drinks at Franco’s Bar. This chic spot offers exceptional cocktails, an extensive wine list, and a stunning view over Positano, a perfect place to toast to your love and the new chapter of your life you’re embarking on.
