If you can’t go to Italy, bring Italy to you. I recently had the privilege of photographing Caroline and Mike’s Italian-inspired wedding right here in Pittsburgh. If you’re looking for Italian wedding venues, Bella Sera Event Villa & Catering won’t disappoint! We were transported to a sunny day in Tuscany with romantic countryside vibes. The reception area is reminiscent of a Tuscan villa spacious enough for a full Italian wedding celebration!

When Caroline and Mike originally met with me, they envisioned classic, timeless, and romantic photos they could enjoy for years to come. They hoped to include formal portraits as well as more lighthearted, natural moments to showcase the emotions of the day. As one of Pittsburgh’s top Italian wedding venues, Bella Sera was the perfect canvas to get the wedding photos they imagined. From stunning portraits to heartfelt candids, I’m in love with the balance between fun, classy, romantic, and timeless photos that tell the full story of their wedding day.

I strive to give couples variety when it comes to their photos. Too much of one style can feel monotonous and won’t convey the full picture of the day.

When reviewing wedding photography styles, you may feel like you must pick between formal traditional wedding photography and emotive photojournalistic photography. You don’t have to choose—you can have both! And I encourage it. Here’s why:

5 Reasons to have Variety & Balance in your Wedding Photos

Capture Emotions

The doors open as the couple sees each other for the first time across the aisle—smiling, tearful, and radiant with joy. These fleeting minutes are filled with so much raw emotion, which is why candid photos are so important and meaningful. These are moments that can never be recreated, so photos will help these memories to live on forever. As a wedding photographer, it’s my job to anticipate these priceless interactions and capture them in emotive frames you can feel. I want to help you relive this day.

Frame Worthy Portraits

Portraits and group photos are also essential to your wedding photo gallery. These photos will include your wedding party, family members, and of course your intimate couple’s portraits or first look. We’ll help you pose and keep you laughing so that your formal portraits still feel authentic and fun. You’ll also get some artistic editorial-style portraits. These types of portraits tend to work best for wall art, displays, and frames. Some of your family members may appreciate a few wedding formals as well.

Gifts

On that note, portraits can make perfect gifts for parents or other family members to remember the big day. In addition to shots of the newlyweds, you could give your parents a few family photos, father/son or mother/daughter photos (and vice versa), or even sweet photos of the flower girl with her basket of petals. These make such great gifts because they showcase the special memories associated with the photos.

Remember Details

Photos of the wedding attire, rings, the décor and venue, and bouquet are just a few of the precious items you will never want to forget. Put items you want to use in the detail shots in a box for your photographer. As your photographer, I’ll also be sure to capture various details of the day, such as your wedding design, décor, and venue setup. These can add decorate touches to wedding collages and albums.

Relive the Day

And finally, we’ll be sure to capture tons of in-the-moment candids throughout the day so you can relive the magic of it all. From your aunt breaking it down on the dance floor to catching a quiet moment to gaze into each other’s eyes when no one is looking, these are the memories you want to last. While you can’t go back to your wedding day, candid photos can bring the day back to you!

Creating a diverse set of both candid and traditional wedding photos will ensure that you remember all the emotion and beauty of your big day. Portraits will show timeless elegance and romance, while candids will capture your laughter, love, and tears of joy.

Congratulations to our Pittsburgh newlyweds, Caroline and Mike! May you have a lifetime of love and happiness!
