Engagement Adventure Session

When a couple arrives with their own canoe, you know you’re in for a good time! Mikayla and Mason are two of the sweetest soulmates I’ve ever seen. Somehow, they make silly and adventurous moments look incredibly romantic – I was laughing and “aww-ing” all at the same time. If you’re needing some inspiration for your upcoming adventure session or elopement, this is all you need.

First, we had some fun warming up on the shore. As a Lake Tahoe photographer, I knew this quiet beach tucked along Lake Tahoe would be the perfect spot. Mikayla and Mason hardly noticed me as they enjoyed the moment and felt the sand between their toes. (The piggyback photos remind me of scenes from The Notebook, and this couple’s love is just as sweet!)

Then, it was time to set sail – or grab a paddle, rather. Mikayla donned a cute sunhat and off they went! These two were up for anything, which made their engagement photos all the more incredible. And I have to say, I was amazed by their balancing act. Not everyone can get into those super romantic poses in a narrow canoe without flipping – way to nail those shots, Mikayla and Mason!

After taking a breather on the shore for a bit, they were off on their next expedition up the rocky cliff. This is one of my favorite spots along the lake because it’s rarely crowded, and the tall pines emerging from the rocks make for the most beautiful backdrop. Better than any studio session, this backdrop happens to be interactive! Of course, they scaled the rocked like pros. Then, they decided to take the plunge into the chilly water to cool off (although there’s nothing chilly about those intimate poses!). Needless to say, we all had a blast, and they experienced an adventure session they’ll never forget.

Adventure Sessions with Mariah Treiber Photography

When I tag along with couples to document their engagement or elopement sessions, my goal is for the emphasis to be on them, not me. I am just along for the ride to snap real-life photos while you live in the moment. While I’ll offer some guidance to get some great shots here and there, I mostly want my couples to have an authentic experience. Get a little crazy. See where that trail goes. Climb a tree in your dress. Take time for a kiss beneath the trees – do what makes you happy. And when you do, I guarantee you’ll have memories you’ll never forget and photos that tell your real love story, not a posed one. I’m here for the adventure seekers and wanderlusters.
