Pittsburgh Wedding at Morning Glory Inn

I recently had the privilege of photographing Sarah and Ian’s Pittsburgh wedding at the Morning Glory Inn. The wedding was romantic and intimate—a true celebration of their love and commitment. The flow of the day was peaceful and relaxed. I really enjoyed photographing at this unique venue with all of the greenery, stone, and vintage vibes. And the people were even more photogenic! The entire day was filled with happy emotions.

The day began with smiles and laughter as Sarah and Ian got ready with their closest friends and family members. The sweet couple exchanged heart melting vows, and then moved right into speeches on the deck for those who wanted to say a few warm wishes. It was all so personal, moving, and beautiful—a great example of how couples can make their wedding day what they truly want.

Then, the newlyweds and their guests took a few photos before heading inside the inn for a gorgeous buffet dinner. Meanwhile, the bride and groom had a private dinner together on the top deck overlooking their venue and guests. I felt it was a really precious time for the two of them to take in the moment before joining the reception. Although it did rain after the ceremony and for the rest of the evening, they were down to take some gorgeous portraits with the drizzle. How cute are those umbrellas?!

Bring on the Rain! | 3 Ways to Prepare for Rain on Your Wedding Day

1. Bring the Right Gear

They say rain is good luck on your wedding day, and it certainly doesn’t mean that your day is ruined. Instead, make the most of it! Rainy weather can lend itself to stunning portraits. You just have to come prepared with the right gear and setup!

If rain is in the forecast, try to have lots of umbrellas on hand for your guests and the wedding party. I love these clear umbrellas because they work as cute and subtle props without detracting from the subjects or background. It was also helpful for the bride and groom to get ready at the venue so they don’t get wet on the way to the ceremony and reception.

2. Work with Your Venue

Most likely, your venue will already have plans in case it rains. Many venues are happy to provide tents to keep you and your guests nice and dry. Or, you can move your ceremony indoors if you were originally planning an outdoor wedding. All of the covered areas at this venue were so helpful!—the couple could still get photos with all of the beautiful greenery without getting too wet.

3. Remember What’s Important

No matter what happens with the weather, remember that your marriage is the most important thing. Even if it rains, you will still be able to have a beautiful and meaningful ceremony and reception. As a luxury wedding photographer in Pittsburgh, I’ve encountered just about every type of wedding day challenge. I assure you we’ll still get fantastic images no matter what Mother Nature throws our way. Just enjoy celebrating the day with your new spouse and wedding guests, and I’ll take care of the rest!
