Oregon Coast Elopements

Sarah + Andrew’s Adventurous Southern Oregon Elopement

What are two lovestruck wanderlusters to do during a pandemic? Tie the knot atop a beautiful ocean cliff, of course! and Sarah and Andrew have been together for so many years that they finally decided to take the leap – off the coast of southern Oregon.

I helped them select a location that’s a bit daring and even more beautiful. They were excited to see the place I had in mind for them along the cliffs of a deep cove. This area is part of one of Oregon’s Scenic Corridors. But it does take some exploring to find this secret spot of mine! It’s one of my favorite hidden gems with full views of the ocean. Once again, this spot did not disappoint.

As a fair warning, this secret and secluded location requires a relatively short but dangerous hike down some steep slopes. At one point, we had to use a rope to climb up and down! If you are afraid of heights this is definitely not an ideal location (unless you’re up for a challenge), but experience is more than worth it. The sunset looks surreal, just like a painting. Up there, you feel like you’re on top of the world as the waves crash into the cliffs. It truly is a once-in-a-lifetime kind of experience – one you’ll never forget.

I love this location because of the rich colors, especially at sunset. A warm golden glow illuminates the tones of auburn and slate on the cliffs, and the water is strikingly blue. If you want a romantic backdrop, this is it!

Location Tips

If you’d like to elope here, I recommend the following:

  • Bring very sturdy hiking shoes and clothes that won’t snag. You can change once we’re over there (it’s a very secluded area).
  • It helps to have some hiking experience. This is a moderate to difficult hike with a few dangerous portions on the final descent down the cliffside to the awesome spot you see in these photos. (BUT you can also choose to not do the final descent for some still awesome views as the sun sets.)
  • If you want the views without the hike, there are some awesome locations down the road we can explore.
  • This location really shines during sunrise and sunset.
